Thai-ASEAN News Network on True Visions

The Thai-ASEAN News Network is the only English language news service in Thailand. that provide  a very useful web site and a live television channel that is on air 24/7.

Until recently you could only access the TV channel via cable or by watching it live on the web site via streaming. Because of slow Internet connections to many areas of the country this in effect meant you could not watch live broadcasts.

This week however has seen the inclusion of the TAN Network on Thailand’s leading cable provider True Visions.  You can find the programme on channel 78.

The network also has a very good web site that provides lots of information that is both useful to expats and visitors to Thailand with sections covering interesting places to visit, lifestyle and art to name but a few.  I have personally found it an excellent resource for getting ideas from when it comes to trips and visits to different areas of Thailand.

That is good to know Mike. Mind you, I tend to only watch news online at the moment. Maybe my son will allow me to turn to channel 78 for a few mintues in the evening.

Paul, I actually watch the news in Thai, but struggle to understand it (they speak so quick) so the channel provides a good resource if something of interest is happening.

BTW you are lucky son is not on the computer :-)

Mike I’ve just had a look at TAN’s website, pretty impressive, it beats the online Bangkok Post hands down. I’ve bookmarked it because it will be a good source for news and blog topics.

Like yourself I watch the news in Thai when staying in the village. We have cable and I’m sure it is through True Vision, the English news channel will be a welcome late night view for me.

BTW how’s your Thai language coming on as you mention (in reply to Paul) you ‘struggle’ to understand the news in Thai. That reads like you get the gist of most of it.

Martyn my Thai is “coming on” to which you can add slowly :-) I’m idle as far as language learning goes so although I understand a lot of Thai now I still can’t hold a conversation.

Maybe one day I will do what Talen is doing although I doubt it.
