“Thailand-That’s it” Photo Contest

Reflections in a Temple Pond

The latest competition from the Tourist Authority of Thailand(TAT) is named “Thailand-That’s it.” The competition is right up my street since it is a photographic event.

Budding photographers are invited to submit photographs to:

“Inspire others with photos that are unmistakably Thailand!”

Well I thought I would give it a go since there are several attractive stays at top-notch Thai resorts as prizes worth up to 50,000 Baht.  You can even win a similar prize valued at 20,000 baht by registering and just voting if you don’t want to submit a photograph(s). Of course you would need to be in or visit Thailand to take advantage of your prize which is valid from January/February to 31st October  2011.

Contestants may submit as many photographs as they wish during the submission period from 1 November-15 December 2010. There are several different categories to choose from.

Voting takes place between 1st December 2010 and 15th January 2011. Prior to these dates “voters” and “contestants” may only view the entries.

Needles to say as with any TAT promotion/competition there are lots of rules and regulations.

The most noteworthy is that in order to submit and/or vote you must register with TAT.  Not a big deal since the on line form took a couple of minutes to complete and it should ensure that voting is reasonably fair.

This is the second TAT competition I have entered this year and I should find out this week if I have been selected as a finalist in the Thailand Medical Tourism Blog Contest from the 69 entries.

I know many of you are very good photographers so I hope you will join me in this latest TAT competition. On the other hand  if you don’t want to submit any photographs, can I  be cheeky and ask you to register with TAT and vote for my photographs when the voting opens on December 1st.

I have submitted all the photographs attached to this post, mostly in the art and culture section. If you like any of them please let me know your thoughts.

Mike good luck in the competition and I will register you a vote or two, perhaps it’s time to get my Vivitar back out.

I like the top photo but my favourite is the one of the reclining Buddha, I clicked and enlarged it, that’s one impressive photo shot.

On the subject of photographs, I’ve visited Jamie Monk’s Phuket blog this morning and some of his photos from the Phuket Vegetarian Festival are mind blowing. I even followed his link to Flickr. They are definitely worth a look if you haven’t already done so.

Here’s a link to my own possible entries into the TAT photo contest:

Good luck, but I think my Vivitar shots will take some beating.

Martyn, thanks for that. I just looked at Jamies photographs. Brilliant aren’t they? I forgot the old Vivitar post, thanks for reminding me and making me smile.

Just hope TAT will play more fair with the copyright of the photos than they apparently did in past, like in this story. I think I’ll submit a few of my photo stock as well, but won’t give them the high resolution original files :-)

Andy, yes I actually got the original link from Andrews blog having read the story regarding the photos. I don’t have an issue myself and I have only submitted low res photos anyway. They limit the upload to 1mb themselves anyway. Good luck with your submissions, let me know when you do it so I can take a peek.

Mike, Some beautiful photo’s you have taken. I plan to send in a few photo’s myself but I’m sure the competition will be stiff.
