Your Support Appreciated

I know I said I wouldn’t mention being a finalist in the Thailand Medical Tourism Blog Contest again but I really do need your support. So one final(I promise) post about the competition and how you can help me win before I am whisked off to Bangkok on Sunday.

We, the finalists, have now been allocated our blogs, which are all to the same template and based on WordPress(thank you Buddha). They will be live from tomorrow but you can have a sneak peak of mine here if you would like to read the extremely engaging and interesting posts I have added ;-) Unfortunately about the only thing I can control on the blog is the content, since we have no control over the layout or other template and plugin functions.

OK time to cut to the chase and how your support will be appreciated. The competition proper does not start until 22nd November 2010 after which time all unique hits on my blog count towards the total that will be used in ascertaining the winner.  Voting(hits) is live between the above date and 31st January 2011.

So how can you help? Well clearly you can visit my medical-tourism blog, there is a comments system so feel free to leave your thoughts ;-) however I would also appreciate any Tweets or FaceBook likes that you feel like giving,  since in theory this might well increase my exposure a little. I have also set up a fan page on Facebook called Medical Tourism Thailand, so if you are feeling low, depressed or just plain bored you can always fan the page. You won’t find a cure for your malady but it might make you smile, once I can add some observations on my experiences (not suitable for blog posts) during the familiarisation trip.

Given my current blood pressure and stress levels, perhaps its just as well that I get at least one free medical assessment next week. In the meantime I have to think of a suitable gift to give the TAT Governor and press at the welcome dinner on Monday. Any inappropriate suggestions will be duly deleted ;-)

I hope the hits from reading the RSS feed do count as well, as I have subscribed your blog there already, but rarely visit websites to read blogs. I wish you best of luck, given that you are an experienced blogger with lots of Thailand background your chances should be not too bad – but I haven’t yet looked who are your competitors.

When you meet with the TAT governor, you could nudge him into doing a ecotourism blogging contest next, or maybe a history tourism, thouse I would love to join into the competition myself then :-) But if you could just hint him that TAT should be more involved in the already existing Thailand blogging scene – actually reading what people are blogging and interacting by comments, that would be great, it still seems TAT is in a different universe than we bloggers, though we both like to promote the beautiful and interesting country.

Andy, thanks, not sure RSS shows up since its set up with Google Analytics. I hope my Thailand experience helps. the competition might well be quite stiff, lots of folk who travel blog for a living.

I will certainly bend the TAT Governors ear if I get the chance, I think your points are very valid, sadly I don’t think those of us who promote Thailand are ever thought about. Some great resources too, take your site for example as well as many of our colleagues.

Good luck with this and well done on making it to the finals. It sounds like it is going to be an interesting experience at the very least.

Hi Paul, thanks I will do my best to enjoy the experience.

Mike, I’d certainly enjoy lending ‘our’ voice to your endeavours and for what its worth ‘me and mine’ will be following you all the way. That said I cant help but doubt the validity and ‘worth’ of the campaign and what it just who it is benefitting.

Lloyd, thank you, I don’t expect to win but I do enjoy a challenge. Perhaps I will have some answers for you after I return next week.

Good luck, Mike, I will be following you avidly when I get back to Phana. I get to BKK on 21st so may have time the following day to register a few hits before taking the night train. Will put up some Facebook likes as well, though I’ve never done that before. Do you think they sift out multiple ‘votes’? I doubt it.

Hi Lawrence, if you are around on the 22nd we might get a chance to hook up. Not sure which hotel I will be at for the first two days(21/22). I will mail you my mobile number. In answer to your question, its unique hits, so that may mean(not sure)that a visit to a post only counts once. Sorry forgot to add thanks, ever little helps ;-)

Mike good luck, I’ll be supporting you as much as I can and I’m quite interested in what kind of professions the other 11 finalists have. Perhaps after the competition is over you can give us the lowdown on who and what you are up against.

    • http://www.thailand-blogs.com Mike

Martyn thank you as always, it seems most of my fellow contestants have travel business connections. I’m sure they will be interesting and I certainly intend to blog about my experiences here from a human interest side (no metion of MTB I promise).

Likewise Mike, Good luck and I’ll be retweeting for you….wouldn’t do to have an outsider win.

Talen, great thank you. Hope your trip went well.
