Prachuap Khiri Khan Tourist Information Map

Prachuap Khiri Khan Tourist Information Map

A couple of weeks ago I wrote Thailand Travel Guide Prachuap Khiri Khan to try and address the general lack of information available on the Internet for this part of Thailand. Today I would like to point you towards the new section(page) on this blog under the tab “Maps,” where you will now find a new interactive Google map, Prachuap Khiri Khan Tourist Information Map.

There are three alternatives for viewing the map after you click on the maps tab at the top of the page, you can simply view it there, expand it by clicking the RED key on the left side or follow the link to the maps home on Google maps displayed under the map.

Whichever option you choose you will find that the “map pins” are clickable and in a lot of cases the information bubble contains links to posts and photographs on the selected feature.

I am also currently trying to figure out how to make the map display photographs from my Next Gen Gallery, which is not currently visible on the blog,  but is a forthcoming feature that will also include some of my favourite photographs.

For anyone with an interest in WordPress the map plug-in is called XML Google Maps. I have actually embedded the map in this post using the plug-in to demonstrate its use.

Incidentally if you embed links in your Google maps(My Maps) you will find they are “dofollow.” So they not only provide info for your visitors but they also provide you with some back links.

Any suggestions on how I could improve the Prachuap Khiri Khan Tourist Information Map would of course be welcome.

    Hello ,
Thank you for the informations provided by your very interesting blog .Moving to Thailand or retiring there could be an interesting option for a lot of people .The subject is always well documented for a man moving there but what about if you are a woman with children ?

    Kind Regards

    Laurence

Hi Laurence, thank you and welcome. Yes I am a man so the things I experience are from a male perspective. However I do try to cover a range of things that would be equally appealing to women. No sexism here(I hope). If you can make any suggestions I would be happy to consider them.

Mike I’m quite impressed with the map. I’ve had a play around with it and seen your links back to your posts. Excellent.

I use a computer mouse with a scroll wheel (can’t think of its proper name) and rolling the wheel expands or shrinks the map. Very useful.

Things like Next Gen Gallery are totally beyond me, I like a plugin to be similar to myself. Simple.

Martyn the Next gen gallery is not easy to get your head round ……that’s why its not visible on the site since I haven’t really mastered it yet.
