The Tourism Authority of Thailand(TAT) has just launched a new promotion “Stopover Bangkok- Amazing Offers,” for transit passengers arriving at Suvarnabhumi International Airport(BKK).
This is an extension/promotion of the scheme already in place for transit/transfer passengers that I reported in 12 hours in Bangkok.
According to TAT Governor Suraphon Svetasreni :
“Visitors transiting in Bangkok before heading onto their planned destination will be enthralled by these ‘appetizer’ tours. They will get a fantastic first-hand experience of what Bangkok and its nearby environs have to offer and hopefully return for a more extended ‘main course’ visit.”
There is even a new web site Stopover Bangkok to cater for the quoted 3.4 million passengers who transit or transfer through BKK each year. The site was launched at the ITB Berlin 2011 last week(the show finishes today).
Targetted at these visitors, the Stopover itineraries have been designed to suit all types of tastes and budgets. They cover 9 remarkably unique experiences with fantastic special privileges.
Which all sounds fantastic until you actually visit the web site mentioned, which has a very nice front page, but nothing else, so if like me you wanted to check out the 9 stopover tours offered or even book one, well you can’t.
I fired off an email to TAT about their Bangkok Stopover Amazing Offers site and lack of accessibility, but at this time I haven’t had an answer to which I have now received the following reply, “Greetings from TAT, sorry for the inconvenience if there are any forwardings I will let you know asap. Thank you for your time.”
In the meantime I think I’ll just have to stick with the new TAT advertising slogan, “Amazing Thailand-always amazes me,” and leave it at that.
Update: 28th June 2011-The site is now functional with a slightly different web address which has been modified above.
